Mo’Nique Is Living Her Dream
Mo’Nique may be known as a comedianne, but she shows her acting chops as an abusive mother in the film ‘Precious.’ She knew how to play the role. “Coming from being molested as a child, when [director Lee Daniels] said, ‘I need you to be this monster,’ well [I] knew who that monster was,” she says. Yet Mo’Nique says her real life is a far-cry from her past. “When we’re at home it ain’t ‘action and cut’,” says the mom of 4-year-old twins, Jonathan and David, and a 19-year-old son, Shalon. “It’s just like a playground in our house – nothing but fun and love.” Mo’Nique has also adopted a healthier lifestyle by giving up red meat, fried foods, and junk food (mostly: “I still love those d*mn Doritos, baby!”). “Big is still beautiful,” says Mo’Nique, who went from a size 20 to a size 14. “Big healthy people are beautiful.” Did you venture out to see ‘Precious’ this weekend (if it’s playing near you)?
