More Evidence That Simon Cowell Is Soft
Simon Cowell has reached out in a big way to help a little 18-month old girl get the experimental cancer treatment she needs. The little girl, Sophie Atay, was diagnosed with a neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer earlier this year. Her mom has been working to raise the $800,000 needed for an experimental treatment. One of Simon’s friends, X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke, told him of the mother’s fundraising efforts and Simon gave the girl the remaining $160,000 needed! “I’d told Simon about the situation and that there was no time to waste because Sophie needs the treatment immediately, and he decided to give her the money in a second,” Burke tells the Mail. “Now we’re hopeful Sophie will be on the flight to the U.S. today.” The treatment is said to have the possibility of raising Sophie’s survival rate from 20 percent to 90 percent! It’s so sad that not all families have access to some of these treatments due to the outrageous costs. What an amazing thing Simon did! Photos by WENN
