Dolly Parton doesn’t believe celebrity marriages last. The ‘9 To 5′ singer claims her 44-year union with spouse Carl Dean works so well because he stays out of the spotlight and they never need to compete with one another.

  Akon , who signed Lady GaGa to his KonLive imprint (along with her being signed by Streamline and Cherry Tree ) at Interscope Records , is thanking his lucky stars that he did – or at least his bank account is!! Here’s what Akon had top say: “She’s pretty much retired me. She was definitely a blessing. She came at the right moment. I’m glad I believed in her, boy. That goes to show you, if you believe in something strong enough, it will pay off. I was like ‘Yo, I want to sign that right there. She needs to be under my umbrella. Jimmy was like ‘Yeah, whatever you want. Take her. Let’s get it done.’ And she just blossomed into a super megastar, man.” The Lady will also reportedly be featured on his next album out later this year.

  Check out what Elton John stated to Parade magazine: “I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems. On the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him. Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving. I don’t know what makes people so cruel. Try being a gay woman in the Middle East — you’re as good as dead.”  I truly hope he meant gay as in happy. Otherwise this dude is going to get some serious heat over this comment.

It was the Mea Culpa Streamed ‘Round The World, and Tiger Woods’ wife Elin was nowhere to be found. Like Jenny Sanford, Elin refused to stand by the celebrity husband who had publicly humiliated her. We don’t blame her. And we don’t know any woman who would agree to join Tiger on the podium, face the music on live-video stream and squeeze his hand as he apologized for destroying his squeaky-clean image by having countless affairs with other women. (We still can’t get over the parking-lot quickie with the Perkins waitress). As Tiger said in his totally-canned speech, “I brought this shame on myself.” Elin’s refusal to attend Tiger’s press conference sends the message that not only is she a tough cookie (who apparently did NOT  attack him with a golf club), but she won’t stand beside him and enable the sad, teary-eyed trainwreck he has become. And yet, exactly how many high-profile wives–Vanessa Bryant, Silda Spitzer, Dina McGreevey, to name a few–have endured the public show of support for their husband, out of devotion, obligation, image-maneuvering, whatever? Too many. We realize not everything is so black and white (see: Julianna Margulies’ excellent, nuanced portrayal of a spurned politician’s wife in The Goodwife ). But we wonder what made them walk out into the glare of the spotlight, surrounded by judgment, prying eyes, shame and overall bad juju. The tables seemed to have turned. Jenny Sanford recently bucked expectations of The Good Wife by ditching husband Mark as the Luv Gov rambled on and on to reporters about his torrid affair with an Argentine lady.
